I just modded my VIC-20 to get a much better video signal out of it, using the C0pperdragon LumaCode adapter. I'd like to talk about it, but with Microsoft pushing a lot of folks on to Linux, I'd also like to answer questions from Linux beginners in a casual, friendly way. So, let's chat! Has the internet told you Linux' "find" command is too scary to use? Well, they're wrong. Linux' "find" command - also found in lots of other *NIX systems - is a critical tool to learn. In today's Lil' Linux Lesson, I'll be demystifying the "find" command, and covering how it works with the "-exec" option, and the superpower differences between using " " and using ";", which I promise will make...

Welcome to another Mint-tastic episode of Veronica Explains! Today, I'm talking about Linux Mint, and Linux Mint Debian Edition, or LMDE. I used both Linux Mint versions for the last few weeks on my everyday laptop. Both are great, for sure. So why is LMDE positioned as an "alternative" to the Ubuntu-based "flagship" edition in the first place? Let's talk about how these two distros work, and I...

Anyway, I'm not planning on dwelling much on Red Hat beyond this- my plan is to move forward with community-driven distros in mind, and recommend those to customers in the months and years ahead. Thanks Veronica. 1 - What is the difference between LMDE Mint and Debian 12 with Cinnamon on it? (I also tried KDE and found that in the long run I make it look same as Cinnamon, but less stable or coherent. I also tried recently Arch linux with Cinnamon, and found it unsatisfying, and no better than the LDME nor the Debian 12 with Cinnamon.) -I would appreciate you thoughts about the differences, Debian based distros, and your thoughts about KDE and using Arch - which seems more orientated towards people who enjoy spending hours on customization, more than getting things done using their computer.

I couldn't install the wifi driver on my 2013 MacBook Pro after install. Driver manager said I had to be connected to the internet. The mac has no ethernet adaptor and I don't have a WiFi usb. I found a workaround. I manually edited the /etc/apt/sources.list file and /etc/apt/sources.list.d/offical-package-repositories.list to use the cd rom source which was commented out. I was able to install the driver. I then restored the two files back to what they were and updated everything after connecting to the internet.

I have modded 5 or 6 iPod classics now. I have broken the headphone connector on the 4th gen that's just like that power connection. I Sync mine on a Mac, which uses Finder and "Music" these days, which does support the transcoding while syncing. I like to put 1TB of storage in iPods and then load lossless AIFF files 😂 I had no idea it was so easy to sync to an iPod on Linux though, that's really cool.

By using a locked down iPad from a company that's anti-right-to-repair, you're signaling to Apple and the world at large that locking down equipment is totally fine and even the techiest of tech people will accept it. That's why your friends are perplexed that you'd do that. There is an abundance of small, light-weight laptops, they're just not as cheap as Netbooks were and aren't called that.
